Are fitbits programmed to fail after exiting warranty?

Don't get me wrong, I really like Fitbit, and it has done me much good since I started wearing it.  But it's noticeable for me that they seem to die not long after exiting warranty.  It's happened with every Fitbit I owned.  Latest is Charge 5.  Now I'm being invited to buy a new one, albeit with a discount code (which so far is invalid).  This tendency to 'mysteriously' expire shortly after warranty smells a bit bad.  Does this happen with other people, or am I just unlucky?

I've had the same issue. Recently got a charge 5 and still have some time on warranty so as always, hoping this one doesn't fail.

Just over 13 months for me (Dec 8, 2022) and now just randomly during the day stuck on logo screen and none of the suggested ways fix it. Never again.

Mine's dead after 3 months and I am told it's out of warranty with no explanation how. I've read the warranty link and need to know how it's out of warranty.

My Fitbit died after 13 months.  I’m going to look at Garmin and apple.

Right before the 1 year mark but by the time I realized it was an ongoing problem, warranty expired.

Mine is dead still in warranty and they won't replace it.  Moved on to galaxy watch six.  Just got rid of my pixel phone and my Fitbit. Goodbye, Google, until you get things fixed.

I've got the standard reply (below). For those thinking to buy one, DO NOT BUY! I will tell all my friends to stay away from Fitbit. This product is dead.

"Thanks for the details. Fitbit made sure all possible troubleshooting steps are put into consideration as a diagnosis. Since the issue still persist even with all the steps. Your Fitbit has been deemed defective. You can recycle it through any local electronics recycling program near your area."
