Hello @Nansters and welcome to the Community.  The auto recognition feature interprets the accelerometer data, looking for patterns.  In essence the accelerometer sees what it sees.  There just must be something about your walking style to make it interpret it as elliptical.

  1. You can always change the name of an auto recognized activity.  Tap on that exercise to go to the exercise details.  Tap on the Categorize Exercise option at the top and change it to walk.
  2. Set elliptical to ignore in the auto recognized activity list.  Tap on your profile picture > Activity & Wellness > Exercise > Elliptical > toggle auto recognize to Off.
  3. Fitbit calls this feature SmartTrack.  It's not as smart as Fitbit thinks it is.

@Nansters basically, your arms are no omg in a way that Fitbit is being deceived.

If disabling elliptical doesn't help, you may have to use the manual start/stop.
