BATTERY LIFE

I purchased a CHARGE 5 about 4 weeks ago. In the beginning the battery lasted 5+ days. As time went on the battery life span got smaller and smaller. Called and chatted at least 4 times with support and have had no results. last call was turn off GPS which made no difference at all. Now 4 plus weeks into this and that battery lasts maybe 20 hours. Was told a fix is coming but no idea. Asked to trade back one model or get a new one and was told will not doable. For a company that has high marks for their product I at this time would NOT recommend FITBIT to anyone

I've run into this myself.  There are two things I've done that have seemed to make all the difference:

* On the Fitbit, make sure Sleep Mode turns on when you're asleep.  Even with my settings set to dim brightness, auto default timeout, and default wake, I guess the screen must have been getting turned on a lot in my sleep.  I often sleep with my fitbit arm under the pillow, so that sort of makes sense.  Find this setting under Settings -> Quiet Modes -> Sleep Mode.

* Recently it happened again a couple times (after a long time with no problems), and I think in both cases I'd accidentally left Water Lock on all night after showering right before bed.  This was only last week that this happened, so I'm still experimenting to be sure, but I'm pretty positive that Water Lock was potentially interfering with Sleep Mode, allowing the screen to pop on repeatedly.  (Hopefully a moderator reads this and passes on this feedback to the developers...)

Finally, for bonus points:

* My wife used to do this thing where she's see the reminder to move and just swing her arm in place (usually while sitting on a sofa working - LOL she's a keeper!).  I picked up this habit and did that occasionally or when I saw I was going to bed with just less than 10k steps.  Anyways, sometimes when I did this I'd later notice my Fitbit battery had dropped like a rock.  I'm not 100% certain that doing this was the cause, but there was strong correlation.

Aside from the recent Water Lock issue, doing the other two things had entirely solved this problem and given more 7-10 days of battery life consistently for months now.  All usual caveats about ways the battery can be overused apply, like GPS, always-on screens, etc.  I am assuming you've read the many, many posts on this forum about bad battery life and the Charge 5.

Cheers!  HTH.
