I’m back with a new Charge 5 after maddening Bluetooth/syncing woes with a device I returned and on which I am awaiting a refund.
In the meantime I took a chance and bought another from Best Buy today with the idea I could return it there if necessary.
So far it’s operated as it should. Quickly updated, and afterwards synced without issue. I am hopeful this continues. In the Bluetooth setting of my iPhone I don’t see the endless connected and not connected messages I previously saw on my earlier Charge 5.
So far I am chalking this up to the likelihood my first Charge 5 was defective.
My love of the simple elegance of the Fitbit app along with the basic ability to read the screen outdoors drew me back. Then there are a number of other positives, including generally accurate sleep and heart monitoring, that were a magnet. I’m certainly hopeful it continues to operate as expected and pleased that so far it is. I also hope others who’ve had problems get quick resolutions.

I am glad you went to Best Buy and purchased another device. I have received a defective HP Chromebook and a defective Pixel 4a in the past year. I eventually purchased the same devices from Best Buy weeks later and they are working just fine. I thought I was cursed with tech when that happened.
As for the Charge 5, I am thrilled with the user interface on the app and device itself. The sleep tracking was pretty much lined up with the results of my latest sleep study and my heart rate is always spot on when I compare it to my Blood Pressure monitor. Enjoy!
