Battery draining Charge 5

Hello,

I bought my wife a Fitbit Charge 5 for Christmas of 2021. She bought me a Charge 5 shortly after (2 wks?) because she loved hers.

Before mine came in hers went bad. Red flag 1.

Her first Fitbit kept loosing charge in a day. We called and went through the whole help thing, nothing fixed it.

Mine came in. Her replacement shortly after.

I am currently on my third (3rd) replacement.

First, my screen died. I could not turn it on. I had to send a video for proof to customer service.

The back lights would flicker etc but the screen would not turn on.  This one would loose at least 10% battery power everyday. Needed to be charged every 7 days or less .

Then the second one which the battery life was amazing (3-5% drain a day tops), died. It would not keep charge at all.  You could plug it in it would charge to 100% and immediately when pulled off the charger it would go to 0% and die.

Now this 3rd replacement has the battery life of the first. But works so far. I've had it 4 days.

I don't shower with it on I don't swim with it. I use it to track steps, sleep and water intake.

I have a pile of bad Fitbits I cannot return to the company.

I am afraid of continuing my subscription past the year, because the Fitbits have not lasted for me at all. I refuse to buy a new fit bit every year and subscription just to make it the year with replacements.

What is going on??

How can I stop this Fitbit from draining the battery so fast? The GPS is set to phone and everything else not needed is turned off. The screen is set to manual turn on, and dim setting for brightness.

This product is bad altogether or I'm just unlucky.

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Kash.nazario.

I appreciate all the information provided regarding this issue with your Charge 5 and that you've received a few replacement units.

I noticed you mentioned the device has the battery life of your first Charge 5. Just to confirm, is it lasting around 6-7 days? Keep in mind that battery can last up to 7 days on the Charge 5. Because this can be affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but around 6-7 days is a normal battery life.  Keep in mind that some of the feature that can drain the battery more rapidly are:

  • As you mentioned earlier, the built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 day when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Using an SpO2 clock face (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

Before considering other options, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article. Other users have also found useful the three pulse restart method described here (restart with the charging cable).

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and experience about this as well.

I'll be around.
