Binning Charge 5 after 2 weeks

Had nothing but trouble since my Charge 5 arrived.  Initially kept data from Charge 2 but had to reboot and now it's all gone.  Set all auto recognise activities in the app but they don't work.  Various other minor issues all add up to total dissatisfaction with this product.  Only question I have now is how do I dispose of it properly - ordinary bin, recycling??

Garmin on order.

Hi, @Utterrubbish   I’m sorry that you had such a bad experience with your Charge 5.  You bought it two weeks ago and Fitbit has a 45 day return policy.  If you bought it somewhere else, check their return policies.  If that’s not possible, check with your local policies.  In my area, you must recycle it as hazardous waste.  In most areas, you definitely can’t put it in regular trash.

Unfortunately I'm in the UK and bought it direct from the Fitbit website - at least I thought I did but it turns out it was from a company called Digital River Ireland and was then shipped from the Netherlands.  Fighting through that warren to try and find any returns info is impossible.  Maybe I've been scammed.

@Utterrubbish look at this thread. It looks like there are more users whose payment has been processed by Digital River Ireland despite buying from Fitbit website. Have you tried to contact Fitbit customer support?

@Utterrubbish and here is more. Digital River is an e-commerce company that handles payments for other companies. For example, when I was buying a license for Pro-Drenalin software, that was handled by Digital River but I made a purchase on the Pro-Drenalin developer website. The receipt doesn't mean that you bought an item from Digital River. I'd push customer support a little harder as they seem to have no idea how their company operates.

I'm very grateful for responses.  TBH I'm really at the end of fighting both the device and a circular system which constantly loops me to the USA returns process.  Luckily I can afford to take the hit and my Garmin arrived this morning.  The Charge 5 should have been so easy considering I've owned Fitbits for years but I've been forced elsewhere and the Garmin is easier to navigate than I expected. I won't be going back.

I would urge anyone in the UK not to buy from the Fitbit website.  It might come up with prices in GBP but it won't be a simple process if anything goes wrong.  Buy from a British retailer.
