Mine has been doing the same for the last week. It just shuts down in the middle of a run, or when I'm turning off the alarm. The only way to wake it up is to plug it into the charge cable. When this happens, it's at 70 or 80% charge, so it isn't an issue with how much charge is on it.  I've reset it with the settings and with the button on the cord. The screen is black and unresponsive and it loses the time until I re-synch it to the app. I've had several Fitbits over the years and this one has had the most glitches. This happened yesterday and again 15 hours later this morning, so it's frequent enough that the Fitbit is barely usable.

Funny. I got my 8 year badge on the same day my Charge 5 failed too 🤔

Finally, I bought "Garmin Venu SQ2".
It is the closest thing to a bracelet I found on Garmin and that had similar functionalities to the "Charge 5". At first it was hard for me to get used to the new menu because I had been with Fitbit and its menus for many years.
Now, after two months, I'm very happy about the change. The "Charge 5" is used by my son as a simple watch (what a shame!).
I had a hard time making this decision and, to this day, I still don't understand how Fitbit is leading to this situation with Google.

Glad to hear about the Garmin. I use a Garmin Forerunner for my running watch, and my Forerunner has been working great for a decade, so I was considering something from them rather than another Charge.
