There are so many unanswered questions on this forum it’s silly to have it. My charge 5 is tanked with a blank screen and all FB kepts posting on this cite is the same Baloney answers to restart the device, install a clock, ect…. None of works bc they tanked the firmware….the reason I believe this is bc the blue tooth firmware is constantly running in the background which is also probably causing the battery drain issue as well ….

Hi @Kpduffy these are the community forums, not customer support, so you might see many unanswered posts from people.

thanks for the advice …however if you look at many of the posts they are all dealing with the charge 5 losing its battery life and or the screen going blank with no luck in getting customer service. I love the fit bit but it’s a shame they have messed a good product and yes the issue does seem related to the firmware messing with the Bluetooth function somehow

And the responses are from your fellow Fitbit users, not from Fitbit.

Kpduffy - I was one of the people whose Charge 5 went “black screen” and was totally unresponsive. I connected with customer service and was supplied with recommendations to try to resolve the problem and links for detailed instructions, including how to clean the charging contacts on my Charge 5 and the charging cable. As strange as it seemed to me, cleaning the contacts solved the problem! I guess sweat built up a layer of oxidation/corrosion on the watch contacts that, once cleaned with water & a paper towel and wiped dry, it began charging when plugged into a USB port. I’ve regularly charged my Fitbit, but it was down to 2% when I finally got it reconnected. No wonder it had a black screen! FYI. Hope this helps others too.

That’s good to know that’s first time heard anyone mentioned that and my customer service support person did mention that….I definitely try it…did you use alcohol to clean it?
------
To be clear the customer support did not provide much help, which seems to be mine and other experience as well. I did receive response about cleaning the charging contact so I will try that, but from what I can see it seems more related to the firmware causing the Bluetooth to continuously be in lock which seems to be locking the screen as well
