Calories Burned not based on exertion level

I have had my Charge 5 for a few months but just noticed that the calories burned when working out is not connected to exertion ie I know that when I log my 60 min Spin class, it will always tell me I burned 398 cals although I don’t work at exactly the same intensity every class.  Same for an hour aerobics class - always 340 cals regardless of varied intensity.  So if it’s not based on exertion/heart rate, how can it possibly be accurate?

Calories burned is based on heart rate if you use the data fitbit records.

But it sounds to me that you are manually logging your workout after-the-fact, which disregards all the data that fitbit actually recorded, and just relies on the parameters that you input.  Logging the workout after it is done is just meant for when you were not actually wearing the tracker during the workout, as a way to capture it approximately

Your tracker has an Exercise App on it; use it; that way it will use the data, such as heart rate, that it actually recorded; or else of you are going to log it manually after you are done, there's no sense in wearing it in the first place.

But that means I have to take my phone into the class with me so I can start it just as the class starts because the preset exercises don’t work for me.

What kind of class? Never mind - just saw spinning.

Spinning is an available option. There are about 20 options from which you can choose the 4 or 5 that show as Exercise Shortcuts on your Charge 5.
