I just had the Fitbit Charge 5 on 31st of December but the app is showing backdated historical data for a number of months every day 1284 calories burnt. I think it is showing wrong calories count now as I don't think it has been set as 0 to begin with. After just a 45 minutes low impact aerobic exercise it is showing that I burnt over 1000 calories however on the app Fitbit recognised the workout and recorded only 284 calories burnt. How to reset the calories count on the watch so that it displays the right calories. It seems like a defect!

Fitbit includes your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) calories that you are always burning just to stay alive.  These usually account for more than half your daily calorie burn.  They are credited even when you are not wearing the tracker.  They are also backfilled into your history for before you started using it.  So 1284 calories showing in your history is your daily BMR calorie burn.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
