I am manually entering exercise entries for a one hour long daily workout class at the gym. I noticed that every single time the calories counted for the session are exactly the same, however the workouts vary in intensity from day to day. So I tested manually logging a one hour workout while I actually was sleeping. It’s registering the exact same number of calories as a high intensity workout. I sync my Fitbit on a daily basis. I manually log the one hour work out so that I can compare the intensity of each 1-hour session. The active minutes vary quite a bit. And I’d like to see how many more calories I’m burning above baseline with each session. What is the problem? Why are the true calorie metrics not showing up on the work out entry?

And I’ve actually upgraded to a Charge 5 however I can’t seem to change my profile. I no longer use the Blaze.

Hello @KarensBlaze
How are you manually entering them? Do you mean in the App after you've finished?
What kind of workouts are you doing? Are they studio classes?
Have you thought about using an Exercise Shortcut on your Charge 5 (if they're not being picked up automatically)? You could choose a shortcut such as Workout, then press Start and Finish. Later you can go into the App on your phone and rename the exercise if you want to. To set up a shortcut, go to the App on your phone, tap on your profile picture, then Charge 5, then Exercise Shortcuts. Select one or more to delete by swiping left, then add a new one by selecting it from +Exercise Shortcut. Then sync your device.
In my case I do Les Mills studio classes and the Charge 5 automatically registers that I'm doing an aerobic exercise, so I let it do it that way and rename it later. In the case of my Pump class, I use the shortcut for Weights and start and stop it manually, then change the name later in the App.
You can rename by tapping on the exercise session then the white arrow at the top right across from Categorize Exercise and select the one you want by entering the name in the search box.
I hope that helps a bit.

Hi thanks. I have found that the best way for me to enter the exercises to do it manually in the app. The exercise is a CrossFit workout in a scheduled 1-hour session. Since the classes have a variety of activities I find that tracker only picks up certain elements of the class. I’m kind of a data nut so I like seeing the full hour captured in the exercise log. That way I can compare more accurately the level of activity from class to class. I’ve tried to remember to turn on and off the tracker and I inevitably forget to either turn it on or off so that just doesn’t work for me.
I’m hoping someone can tell me why the calories are not reflecting accurately. It was noted on another post that they are calculated based on heart rate. However as I noted it’s not being picked up when an activity is recorded manually in the app. Maybe this is some thing that needs to be addressed by Fitbit?
