Can't turn off Activity Zone Minute Notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all,

Love my new Charge 5 but one thing which is really annoying me is that during exercise and at other times during the day the device buzzes like crazy, shows the lightning icon and upward facing Active Zone Minute Arrows when I either hit my daily or weekly target.

I don't want these notifications and have turned ALL app and push notifications off bar the Low Battery notification but they still pop up regardless.

FYI my "Main Goal" is set to Active Zone Minutes which is what I want to track so I don't want to change that just to turn off the notifications in case that's what's causing them i.e. you can't turn off notifications for your Main Goal.

Am I missing something?  Can anyone else who's managed to stop these notifications from happening share with me how they did it?

Cheers.

Hello @BenEadir

Yes, I find them really annoying too!

Fortunately there’s an easy way to switch them off from your tracker.

On your Charge 5, scroll down from the Clock Face screen until you get to Settings.  Tap, then scroll up a few times.  You’ll see Display Settings, Quiet Modes, Heart Rate (make sure this is toggled to on) and then Heart Zone Notifications.  Toggle Off Heart Zone Notifications and they’ll stop.

Happy exercising!

Edited to add: As an extra precaution, press Start on any Exercise Shortcuts you use on your tracker and scroll up to make sure Heart Zone Notifications are toggled to Off on those too.  It should be automatic, but it doesn’t hurt to make sure.

Thanks Wibby,

When I followed your steps I found that Heart Zone Notifications were already turned off but I toggled them on and off again, checked that all my Exercise Shortcuts also had Heart Zone Notifications turned off (they were) and restarted the device.

Fingers crossed that'll do the trick.

I'll check back in after some exercise tomorrow and update.

So, I took a spin class today and got 2 Heart Zone Notifications during the class and then later I got a notification that I'd hit my 10,000 daily steps goal despite having turned off ALL goal related notification settings I can find on the watch, in the app or on the Fitbit.com dashboard.

I'm out of options.

Any more suggestions?

Hello again @BenEadir

It's really strange.  The only time I encountered a problem with them was after the firmware update which mysteriously undid those settings and I didn't know about until I was mid-jog and I had to wait until I got home to fix it because I'd forgotten how to do it.

So, in your case, it might be worth doing some basic, general trouble-shooting steps.  Check both Charge 5 and App are up to date and synced.  Pair and unpair from Bluetooth.  Restart phone.  Restart Fitbit from the cable instead of on the tracker.  Put on the charger, press the small button on the USB end 3 times until the logo comes back up.

I just checked and I get a message when I reach my goal (calories). There doesn't seem to be a place to stop it.  It's only once a day and doesn't ruin mine as it's very short-lived.  Having said that, I also have reminders to move on as well so I'm a bit more adjusted to the buzzing.  The heart rate zone notifications during exercise were the most irritating for me and so far, I've been able to switch them off.

I hope yours go away soon!

Thanks Wibby,

I'll try those measures.

Seems like buggy software which gives me hope it'll be fixed in future updates.

Kind of a 1st world problem so I'll crack on and ignore it of your suggestions don't sort it.

Same problem.
HR-Zone notifications (You are not in "fat burning", "cardio",...) can be switched off (With a VERY misleading German translation for the menu entry)

but not HZ-Zone-Minutes ("you have reached 150 zone minutes today") notifications.

I too have my zone notifications turned off:

  • Alerts when changing HR zones
  • Alerts for accumulating AZM towrds my AZM goal

However, I am still getting alerts for both, which is really annoying. At least I was able to disable the vibration alert.

A work around is increase the time goal of "active zone minutes" to a number you will not reach, say 1000 minutes.

I don't think so... it's alerting me when I hit intermediate goals, like 22, 44 66 minutes

Worked for me, no alerts every 22 minutes.

So I have turned off the zone minute notifications in the tracker settings, and under each activity, and I am still getting AZM alerts every 22 minutes. Mostly I wouldn't care, but it's very annoying when I am checking my tracker (such as during a run) to see the display, and I have to use my other hand to clear the AZM notification.

I don't think you can turn off AZM, but you can change the number of minutes from the default 22.  Pick a number that works for you.

I hadn't thought about the fact that I had a brand new device, so my AZM target was changed to the default of 22. I changed it, and all was good for a few days, and then they started back up at 22 minutes.
