Card: American Express Blue Cash
Device: Charge 5
Phone: Pixel 6
I've been trying all day to add my card to Fitbit Pay and I've been getting errors at various stages.
1. Sometimes I get the error "There was a problem verifying your card details with your financial institution." I simply try again, without changing any information because I know the details are correct, and eventually it will succeed and proceed to the next step.
2. After verifying the code (I've tried both SMS and email), I get the error message "There was an error adding this card to Fitbit Pay."
3. I contacted American Express. They say that a token was successfully created, so there is no issue on their end.
4. After multiple tries, I still get the error message but somehow the card appears in my Fitbit Pay Wallet, both in the Fitbit app and on the watch.
5. I try paying with my watch at a counter that supports tap to pay. There is a payment error. I check the app on my phone, and the card appeared for a second in my wallet, the app synced with my watch, and then the card disappeared.
6. I try adding the card again. Now, instead of giving me options to verify via SMS or email, the only option is to verify by calling American Express customer support.
7. I contact American Express, and they do a manual verification.
8. The card on my Fitbit Wallet says "Inactive" because I still need to verify it.
9. I try removing the card from my Wallet but it still appears, no matter how many times I remove it.
Things I've tried, including with Fitbit customer support's help:
- Updating the Fitbit app
- Force stopping the app
- Clearing the app cache
- Turning off wifi and using LTE
- Turning bluetooth off for 10 seconds
- Restarting the watch via Settings > Restart
- Restarting the watch by pressing the button on the charger three times
