Charge 4 and Charge 5 Strap Hinges

So, in the past I've had 2 Charge 4's, both of which the top strap hinge broke off the device. Both devices were shortly out of warranty, and when I asked support, the only option I got was "buy a new one". I don't want to take that route. Does the charge 5 have the same problems?

Yes, I have had issues w/the strap snapping off from the Fitbit. I have noticed with some straps a good amount of dust like material can build up between the connection other times, (esp w/the elastic straps) no matter how loose you have them to put on they will snap off & send it flying through the air. I cannot not wear the silicon straps & the Velcro ones work the best, but they can get soaked just washing your hands. Leather is nice but not to sleep in. Or wash. It is becoming an issue. Hope this helps.

Hello & welcome @subhash06

From what I understand, the strap connection for the Charge 5 is different than the Charge 4.

I'm using a 3rd party metal mesh band with magnetic clasp. The silicone strap that came with the Charge 5 wasn't very comfortable for me - it was either too tight or too loose. So far, I haven't had any problems with my band staying connected to my Fitbit.

For what it's worth, I have read a few user posts about issues with the band staying connected to their Fitbit. If their device was still in warranty, they were able to get a replacement since the hinge issue was considered a product defect.
