Charge 5 Alarm not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The alarm on my Charge 5 regards working as optional. It seems to set, and sometimes does, but even set it frequently doesn’t go off. With the Charge 4 I thought it would be great to be able to set the alarm directly on the watch, but I’ve changed my mind completely. The Charge has been three step backwards to an audio alarm for me.

Hello, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Liosag

Thank you for sharing that you've been experiencing this inconvenience with your Charge 5.

Before considering other options, please try to remove and re-add the alarm, as described in this article. This has been helpful for other users experiencing something similar.

In addition, please try to complete a three pulse restart following the steps here below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times, pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

Hope this helps, I'll be around.

Hi Davide,
I have removed and reset the alarm on my Charge 5 several times but it has rarely worked. There is no button on the charger that I can find.
Kind regards,
Liz

Hello @Liosag

The button is at the USB end of the charger.

Here’s a picture:

I hope that helps a bit.  I don’t know anything about the alarms though…

Ill try.  Is this a restart?

Badlands, Surely you don't have a Charge 5 with infinite battery life. "Charger" refers to the cable with the charging device (which is a small rounded magnetic box-shaped affair with 2 connector pins) attached, one end of which cable is a USB plug. On that USB plug is a flush round button. THAT is the RESET BUTTON.

@Badlands19 Thank you for your reply, let me know how it goes.

Yes, this would be to complete what is called a three pulse restart. You can find the button at the end of the USB plug of the charging cable.

Completely agree. It’s difficult and unreliable when setting the alarm on the fitbit face.

Can fitbit not make the alarm part of the phone app?

Same problem where alarm always set as expected but would never go off. Simple fix was to open Settings and pick Restart Device, then after restart alarms worked as expected.

@Deekman4 There used to be an option to do this on the Fitbit, but it's no longer available with the most recent devices. If you haven't done so already, I recommend that you post this idea in the Feature Suggestion board of the Community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers. Make sure to post your idea including as many details as possible.

Welcome to the Community forums, @stevyf. Thanks for sharing this update and for confirming that your alarms started working as expected after the restart procedure.

Have a good day.

This is for me a temporary solution. After two months, it starts all over again. It really is annoying you can’t trust the fitbit charge 5

Yep I’ve given up - back to my phone alarm.

Yes, I’m the same, after 5-6 years with my Charge 2 working perfectly.

Coincidentially happened again to me yesterday and I over slept. Restarting didn't work but in the app I noticed there was a watch update due and after doing that it worked again.

Still not great that it randomly doesn't work

My charge 5 alarm failed to go off in December and I followed this advice and it worked. Three times this week my alarm hasn’t gone off again. I’ll follow these instructions again to hopefully solve it but can you explain why this is still happening? It’s an alarm…how can Fitbit mess up the function of the alarm and why hasn’t a fix been released to sort it? Will a bug fix be released? This is so deeply disappointing. It’s a good job that since the issue with my charge 5 alarm in December and my inability to trust it ever again, I set my iPhone alarm as a reliable backup every single time otherwise I’d have been late for work three times this week. It’s really poor.
