I just bought a Charge 5 today, and it's tracked about 1900 steps. This isn't possible because I am disabled and take maybe 200-400 steps a day, if that.
Today, for sure, I didn't take nearly 2000 steps.
I also only have one arm, so there is no "non-dominant" option for me. How do I set this to not track an insane number of false steps when I'm just sitting at my desk, or gesturing with my hand?

Hi, Same here, just got the Charge 5 3 days ago and it seems that steps are very high compared to my Iphone. I noticed yesterday that when brushing my teeth the charge is counting steps??? Apparently the algorithm or the sensors used are not precised enough to make the distinction between steps and other movements.
Any recommendation ?
thanks

Hello @MisterB06 and @mrprice
If you're wearing it on your dominant arm, it's a good idea to set it to that in the App on your phone. From the Today screen tap your profile picture, then Charge 5. Tap on wrist and set it to Dominant. It should be less sensitive to those kinds of movements then.
I hope that helps a bit.

Thank you Wibby, unfortunately this was already set to Dominant, but thank you again for the advice.

Yep, like I said only one arm, so it's set to Dominant and has been since I first opened the app.
No other suggestions though?

Hello, Any other suggestions on how to resolve the counting steps issue?
On my side after a faulty battery I replaced my Charge 5, just received 2 days ago. Autonomy seems to be OK for now. But steps counting is a disaster.
All OK as long as you walk or run (I did compared with my phone an Galaxy WAtch 3), but asoon as you are driving or even brusing your teeth, this is creating fake steps. FOr instance this monring 1200 steps on my phone and 2600 on the charge 5 (very high based on what I did).
Would it be linked with an algorithm issue or the fact that there is no altimeter?
Thanks

Unfortunately no advice here, just the same issue.just upgraded to a charge 5 yesterday afternoon and when i got home from work i noticed that i hit my 10000 step goal.in the middle of dinner. I thought was just a delayed notification. But it morning it counted 56 steps just going to the bathroom, which is adjacent to my bedroom, and back, and another 10 steps after i sat down. Never had this problem with my other Fitbit devices. Since it is counting while im sitting adjusting the stride length wont do i assume.
