Charge 5 GPS map not displaying properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 5 doesn't seem to display my run properly within the fitbit app (see screenshots). It is either a standing point, loading mode, or just a straight line which doesn't reflect the route I took. But if I look at the fitbit dashboard via a browser, the runs are displayed properly which means charge 5 is indeed tracking my route but that the data is not translated to the app.

Have tried reinstalling the fitbit app several times along with wiping cash/storage for google map and it is still bugged out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have attached three runs with both tracking in fitbit app and fitbit dashboard.

Hi, @TheFatHamster, I'm sorry to hear you've not been able to make any progress. If you have not already done this try restarting your "Charge 5" using the button on the charging cable (it must be plugged into a live USB socket) as demonstrated in this video . In addition, go to the Fitbit app in your phone's settings>apps>Fitbit> clear the cache>make sure battery usage is unrestricted and force stop. Next, go to the Fitbit Icon and reopen the app (effectively restarting it) You should also note the imminent arrival of a new update for the "Charge 5" ( Re: Charge 5 Firmware Update 194.61 - Fitbit Community  ) which may or may not make some difference.

I hope this helps, post here again & let us know.

Cheers

Agreed lolmango! It used to work just fine. Also now I notice when I start an activity on my watch the little GPS icon in the top right hand corner is white at first, but not far into my hike (often before I leave the trailhead), it is red.

Also, I tried to attach the picture on my last post re: turning off auto recognize but I keep getting a weird error message.

I've turned back on auto-recognition for running and has given up on trying to make this work on the app. Pretty sure all these other suggestions to reboot your fitbit device / reinstall app / clear cache do not address the problem. It's just the standard debug protocol they throw at you. The issue can really only be fixed via an app update. But as with most google related bugs i doubt a fix will come anytime soon (as @t.parker mentioned in his post it's been an issue since start of 2023). In the meantime I have resorted to looking at the fitbit dashboard for my gps tracking history.

@lolmango , Joseph,  I've read your case and it is very clear stated. I'm having the same problem with my Sense. It has nothing to do with any settings or any device. You've made clear that the track is a good existing track. So it's not your Charge or my Sense. It's something to do with the fitbit app on the phone. Clearly you say the dashboard (in a browser on your phone or computer) makes a good track also.
Even a download from your fitbit app makes a good track.

So I conclude that there's a strange bug in the app or in the server. Let's keep it to that and hope the technicians will find it eventually.

Of course there can sometimes (I hope not too often 😉  ) be a bad GPS fix but that you can find in the tcx download.
And yes, sometimes a reboot of the phone or a clear cache can help.
