Charge 5 Improper Tracking

I got my Charge 5 for Christmas, I’ve been a fitbit user for years and this was an upgrade from my Charge 4. I really enjoy a lot of the new features except for the main reason I wanted it, the tracking features don’t seem to work. I went on a 5 mile hike and it logged 2000 steps and 1300 calories burned for the day with no cardiac activity. It shows my sleep as under 5 hours after I wake up from 10 feeling fully rested. I have a great band and have made sure to fit it properly (not too tight or loose) It’s been about a week but I’m pretty sure I’ve got a bad watch- I think it was purchased off Amazon? Anyone else dealing w similar problems?

@watchperson Do you see your heart rate being displayed on the Charge 5?

 

First, I would swipe to the Charge 5 settings and make sure the heart rate tracking is turned on (page 20 - other settings). Then I would restart the Charge 5 tracker:
