Charge 5 Not Tracking Sleep

I bought a Charge 5 for my wife for Christmas and it doesn't track her sleep. I now see that this is a common issue with these, something she didn't have with her Charge 3. We've tried a few suggestions, but nothing has seemed to work. One night it did start recording 4 hours after she went to sleep. Is this something that can be fixed with settings or should I just return it?

My Charge 5 is tracking and gives me a sleep score of fair, but only 3-4 hours each night, generally from 3am or 4am to 6 or 7am. It seems pretty precise for those times, but I don't get why there is no result for 11pm-2am. This is over 10 days, and I am sure I slept at least half of that time.

 

Only one night did it say I slept a full 8 hours.

Did it get resolved?  I have a month old Fitbit charge five and I’m having the same problems! All the sudden no sleep shows up and it says it can’t sync but it is syncing everything except asleep which disappeared from the app, it is not even listed?

Ok, I followed the instructions on resetting using the original equipment
charger and it's been fine since then but it did take me a couple of goes
to reset.

I tried upur suggestion several times and still says cannot sync. It actually is sinking my steps and my heart rate is still showing however still no sleep tab and the battery is not updating to fully charge which it is.

Greg is your sleep schedule set properly? I know on a recent trip I didn't change the time on my Charge 5 and my sleep tracking was a mess but when my sleep schedule is properly set to my actual sleeping times it works perfectly. Check your setting and make sure it's properly set and see if that makes a difference.

I have been having to connect to the charging cable and press the button 3 times as suggested every night. If I don’t it doesn’t track my sleep and or heart rate. This is ridiculous. It is obviously an ongoing issue. Is there ever going to be a fix?  I had a charge 2 that worked well but the battery stopped holding a charge so I upgraded and spend just as much time having to connect to the charger even though there is 70% or more battery life left.

I’m having the same problem. All the suggestions don’t really help. The restart helped once but then I had the same problem again. 

But there is a - very inconvenient! - workaround

 

If you delete your sleep log and then add it again manually (remember the times you fell asleep and woke up!), then the analysis suddenly appears. 


This shows that it’s clearly a software problem. All the data has been recorded. The Fitbit position was fine and everything worked. Just the analysis is missing. I hope you can fix this with a software update. 

As you don’t get many analyses and ratings without a sleep score the whole user experience gets really bad with this problem… 

 

I‘m thinking about sending it back and try the Inspire 3 or a Whoop now…

Although I have a fitbit 4 I too experienced my last 4 days aren’t showing!  I did all suggestions in here.  I then went into account, charge 4 (5) and hit sync now (midway down the list) .. it worked!  Immediately all sleep records popped right up!

The "button" is on the USB plug - if you don't see it, flip it over. It's round and smooth.  You can depress it with just a little pressure.

My charge 5 is now not recording/dumping my sleep data. The issue started with an occasional failure, usually remedied by using restart on the device. 

Then it deteriorated to failing to dump the data with device restart so going to the long restart with the device in the charging cable worked, although sometimes taking a couple of tries.

Today I've done both repeatedly.

I've changed the clockface.

I changed it back to the original. 

I've turned Bluetooth on and off.

I've done the long restart after turning Bluetooth on and off. 

I have turned my iPhone 8 with all current updates off and on.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the phone app.

I am not getting my sleep data and...Yes I do know that I can do it manually. Why, when I bought a tracker that tracks sleep does Fitbit think I would have to?

MY DEVICE IS ONE YEAR AND ONE DAY OLD TODAY!

I have the same issue, which I never had with the Charge 4,3, HR going all the way back.

My Charge 5 just stopped syncing sleep data which I primarily bought it for.  This is my first and last Fitbit experience.

Wait, so I need to manually set a sleep schedule? What's the point of auto tracking of I need to set manually. What happens on the weekend if I stay up until late and then have a lie in?

 

Not a dig at you, but you've mentioned something I didn't know.

 

 

Sorry to clarify, since getting for Xmas and leaving schedule not set it has approximately correct start and end even without a schedule.  But am I missing out on something?

In the last week or so setting the sleep sensitivity to "sensitive" instead of normal seems to have helped, but not perfect.

 

However all of the previous devices worked for years just fine on the normal setting.

I think that sleep schedule doesn't actually do anything unless needed for alarms etc.  So far it's tracking start and finish okay although seems very sensitive to movement in the middle of the night

Do you have to manually do the BEGIN SLEEP all the time or does the Charge 5 detect when you're sleeping and record your sleep data?

I am trying to find the button you refer to on the flat end of the charger. The charger for my charge 5 is magnetic with rounded structure and I do not see a button. Can you point me to an image or video on line to find this pleas? I am having a problem with slow synchronization and when it tells me it has synchronized there is no sleep info in the app. It was working up to last night with sleep details. The slow sync has been getting progressively worse. Thank you.
