Charge 5 - Return Label issues

the charge 5 is a waste of money.  the battery does not hold a charge more than a day  then the sleep part does not work and the heart after countless call to get help    with the line try this  next time try this.

The last time i talk they say we will send you a label to send it back as it look like its defective.  but you will have to pay to ship it back.  

i have had fitbit items from day 1 when they start out  but this is the last item I will buy

@nssurfer - Did they actually tell you that you would have to pay to send it back? I’ve had to return a couple Fitbit devices over the years and the instructions always mentioned that I should drop the return package - with the label attached - to the post office. The label authorizes the PO to charge Fitbit for the return. Please double check your label and the instruction in the email. Let us know.

Probably just a bad charge 5 lemons happen. Mine has been working great since I got it for Christmas.

i asked the person on the phone that i had to pay to send it back and he said yes

I would definitely recommend the Charge 5, but before taking the plunge you should know that:

 

- there is no altimeter, so if counting flights of stairs floats your boat, then it's not the device for you

- some people have complained about poor battery life; I suspect they have duff ones, as mine lasts 5-8 days, depending on whether I use GPS or not

- if you want mega-accurate tracking of runs, you're probably better off with a Garmin (I use one for tracking runs).  The Fitbit GPS is usually OK, but not as good as Garmin; usually over-estimating distance by a few hundred meters so not disastrous

- you have to have Premium to take advantage of advanced sleep tracking and the Daily Readiness Score

 

On the upside, unlike previous Charges, you can now see the screen in daylight, it's feels better quality (less plasticky) than the 4, has a more organic shape which fits the wrist better and I find the strap more comfortable.  I love the Daily Readiness Score, the colour screen, the ECG and the in-depth sleep analysis.

Solid input. This is my first Fitbit. The premium is great so far and enjoying my health analytics at my fingertips. Already down over 10 pounds in a week and a half following calories in/out. I recommend the Fitbit subscription over weight watchers and I’ve lost 50 pounds in 5 months but I feel more free with this calories in/out tracker. Daily active score kicked in today and i must  say I agree with the analysis of the Fitbit cause I feel recharged.

Actually if our team member sent you a return label via email, is for you too avoid charges for it. If there are any fees from the shipping service. Please write us back. Just reply to the last email sent from Support so that they can have a closer look at your case.

I'm not wild about mine. I love it when it works but most weeks have left me with undocumented stuff. The Health metrics are the most common offenders with just no data. Some activities just don't log. It's just frustrating. I thought long and hard about buying another fitbit product as the previous ones were problematic. Everyone pushed me to the Apple watch. I liked the size and simplicity of the charge 5 so I pulled the trigger and well, maybe I should have kept shopping.

@nssurfer - did they send you a return label to print? Have you printed the return label yet?  Once you print the label and tape it to the box or padded envelope for return, All you have to do is drop the box off at the Post Office or at a FexEx location. Drop it off without paying, no matter what anyone may have told you verbally.  

 

Perhaps I should ask and not assume …but are you in the US? This is all pertinent in the US. 

 

I’ve copied my return instructions below. Please let us know if your instructions in the email are any different.

You're almost back on track! Please send your device to us with the label below:

1. Print—Print your prepaid shipping label. ReturnLabel-XXXXX.pdf  (Yours will be linked.)

2. Prepare—In a small box or padded envelope, package the Fitbit device. You'll receive an email message from Fitbit Support with the list of items to include. Be sure to put your label on the front.

3. Ship—Use one of the following options to ship your package:

Once we receive and process your return shipment (usually 5 to 10 business days from drop off), we'll send you an email with instructions for next steps.

Please note - After doing this, I just handed my return to the clerk at the post office. They did not ask for any payment.

Thank you for responding, @nssurfer . I should have asked that question first. I don’t know the policy on Canadian returns. You still may want to check the instructions in the email to see if there is a shipping label to print and what they want you to do with it.
