Charge 5 Stopped Working

Wore my charge 5 on bike ride. Worked fine and still had battery life. Even synched to Strava app. But later I looked at watch and it was black. Tried all the things, including holding button 3 times, etc. Watch is no longer connected to blue tooth on iPhone so no ability to change screen, etc. Is it dead? RIP Fitbit?

My charge 5 died yesterday too. I have tried the suggested restart options and left it on charge overnight but still a blank screen.  Mine is just two years old so I hope for some help in reviving it

Same thing happened to me. I’ve tried troubleshooting - the button on the charger, charged it up, uninstalled and re installed the app and changed the clock face. 
It’s charging and syncing but the face is black.

Spoke to Fitbit and they suggested the above and then as that wasn’t working, they said that it’s out of warranty and I’d have to buy a new one!!

Not a very helpful response from Fitbit (google). This seems to me to be deliberate and I think they are expecting everyone to buy a new device. I am researching a different make now , after many years with different fitbits in the past

They offered a 35% discount code to buy a new one. 
My battery won’t hold suddenly either. Only lasting 1-2 hours after charging to 100%
i agree - my warranty only just ran out, the watch suddenly broke and they just expect you to buy a new one.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It’s helpful to know it’s not just my watch. Guess it’s time to shop for a new watch and definitely will be looking at other brands now.

Mine has miraculously sprung back into action (after the threat of being launched into the garden). I’m not sure that I trust it but at present it seems ok, although battery seems to be discharging quite quickly. 
I cannot say exactly what has revived it because I’ve been fiddling with it all day. 
I left it charging all night, kept pressing the restart button and completely took my Fitbit off the App and then reinstalled it, as well as  reconnecting Bluetooth.

Update - alas I was right not to trust it. It came back to life for a few hours and I have woken up today and the screen is black again, it is not syncing and Bluetooth has disconnected again. 
I give up with it. I too am going to be shopping for a different brand now.

Mine did the same thing at about the same time as yours.  I really rely on my data and and not willing to give up years of it so I will be buying another Fitbit model.

The same here, my Charge 5 stopped working. Nothing brings it back to life. It has been on the charger for quite some time and I tried resetting it numerous times.

I've read some other topics from people with the same problem. What's happening here?

Since you've already tried the recommended troubleshooting without success, there's an unconventional method that you might want to consider. A user was able to restore their Charge 5 by exposing it to freezer temps. Here's the thread (<-- click) where the user described what they did, if you're interested. This has worked for some, but not all users. Still, it might be worth a try.

Bizarre. My Charge 5 also stopped working, screen is black and unresponsive. I tried resetting it but now it just has a white X in a red circle on the screen. I haven't tried anything else yet but not sure it's going to help from the comments I'm seeing here. Will wait to see if someone tries freezing it (?!) to get it working!

My Fitbit Charge 5 stopped working all of a sudden as well.  Got the white X in a red circle, restarted it.  It's charging and sync'ing but not counting steps, calories or any other stat.  Just stopped working, bizarre.!

I followed all the recommendations on Fitbit support online and then began a Chat . I was able to answer all their questions and they asked me to send them pictures of my unit, USB port and charger. Based on that they said they will replace my watch and sent me a FedEx shipping label. I returned the watch (without the band) a few days ago..
