Charge 5 - Stopwatch and Countdown Display Bug

Hi, just posting this to raise awareness of a particular glitch I'm experiencing with the Charge 5.

 

I use an iPhone 8+ running iOS 15.5 and Fitbit 3.60 with Charge 5 Version 57.20001.149.11

 

When activating the countdown timer or stopwatch, the display will inconsistently update the progression of the digits. For example, a 30 minute timer will begin with 30:00 which will update to 29:59 but then may not update again until the screen is tapped or a random number of seconds has elapsed, eg 29:57 or 29:52. The passage of time does seem to be accurate still but not the screen updating. This will also occur when using the stopwatch feature.

 

While my finger is on the screen the digits do seem to update normally.

 

Also, when using either the countdown or stopwatch features and the screen goes blank after the screen times out, the screen will not auto-wake when tilting the wrist and instead stay black untill double tapped.

 

Both of these issues occur every time and are not intermittent bugs.

 

Interested to see if anyone else has experienced similar bugs.

I think my Charge 5 may just have been in Sleep Mode 😅😅😅

 

I'll leave this here in case anyone else has as a similar problem.

Thank you for sharing all this information about the issue you were experiencing with your Charge 5.

 

It's great to know that you were able to resolve by disabling the Sleep Mode. Keep in mind that when this this feature is on: 

 

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist.
  • To wake Charge 5, you need to firmly tap the screen twice.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in quick settings.

I appreciate you share your experience with this, I'm sure this will be useful for other users as well.

Hi Davide,

My Charge 5 is having a similar problem and is not in Sleep Mode.  Once the stopwatch gets to 5 minutes, it freezes and shows the progression of time intermittently. It stays a 5 minutes, then changes to 5:40, then 6:40 and so on  Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Thanks for sharing that you've been having a similar problem with your Charge 5. 

If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've also tried restarting the device using the charging cable as described here.
