Screen frozen on ECG Screen Charge 5

Hi, I have had my Charge 5 for a couple of years now. Recently, my screen started displaying the ecg app and I can’t swipe / tap back to the clock face. Is there a simple to get rid of the ecg screen flashing screen so that I can use the other features on my watch? Thanks! 😀

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Salfran.

I appreciate the information that you've shared about this inconvenience with your Charge 5.

That's a bit strange, you should be able to go back to the clock screen by swiping right on the screen. If you haven't done so already, please try completing a three pulse restart using the charging cable and check if you continue to experience the same problem:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4. If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

I'll be around.

My charge 5 is stuck like this right now. I had it in my pocket so that it would register steps while I pushed a grocery cart. There are no buttons on my Fitbit and pushing the sides to take an ECG reading does not change it.

Thanks, I found the button. The cord is plugged into a clock on my nightstand and I never realized it was there on the USB end. Pressing it did not work but later the heart screen popped up and I was able to get back to the time screen.

@Mulley Thanks for sharing this update.

It's good to know that you were able to get back to the clock screen again and that it's working properly!

My Fitbit Charge 5 gets stuck when I try to use the ECG. I can swipe to the screen, the instructions flash, I put thumb and forefinger on the side. The directions continue to flash and flash. No result’ and then the screen freezes there. It takes about 2 minutes before I’m able to swipe back to the home page of the clock face.
grrr. Help?

@Mumzyfit Thank you for confirming that you've been having a similar problem.

Could you please also confirm if you continue to experience the same issue after the restart procedure mentioned here earlier? If the issue persists, please try the following combination of steps:

  1. Uninstall the ECG app from your Charge 5.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app and restart your tracker.
  3. Open the Fitbit app and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync.
  4. Install the ECG app one more time and make sure the permissions are enabled.
  5. Tap Discover > Assessments & Reports > Heart Rhythm Assessment to double check if still appears completed
  6. Try taking a reading one more time and let me know how it goes.
