My recently replaced Charge 5 was working fine until a few days ago, where I see the screen doesn't light up.
Then the App prompts for update, this update fails every time.
I've restarted the device with the 1-second interval push button procedure about a hundred times now, the device vibrates but still black screen.
Now it is not even detected by the iPhone's Bluetooth Radio.
This was working perfectly until now so surely Google screwed with some App update, and now a firmware update is required to clear the mess. The problem is the update fails every time.
The device is unusable, doesn't give any signals of life, no way to verify if it is charging.
What do I now? request another replacement?

This was happening to me for a while - try changing the watch face in gallery. The pile of things we deal with owning this watch gets bigger each day, but I felt changing the face was preferable to the battery draining fully in less than 12 hours.

Too late, the battery died and when I put to charge, nothing happens, black screen. I chatted with a Fitbit representative and told me to perform just another reset with the push button on charging cable and now the Charge 5 is with the screen off, vibrating every 5 seconds or so. Still not detected by Bluetooth. I'l let sit like that doing its own thing plugged to the charger until tomorrow, If it still doesn't work I'll request another replacement.
