My problems seems to miraculously have been solved. I don’t know what I did that was the right thing to do. But I have restarted the device a lot of times on several occations for some days now. The last time I did it was when it was fully loaded. I also changed the GPS from dynamic to phone quite recently. Perhaps one of those things can help someone else. This morning the battery har 87 percent (fully loaded at bedtime). Before that the battery drained from 100 % to zero overnight since a coupe of weeks.

Hi, @Hipphipp, welcome. I suggest you try restarting your Charge 5 as demonstrated in this video

You do not mention how long you've had your Fitbit Charge 5, have you reviewed Fitbit's return and warranty policy ?

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi there, @Hipphipp. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that the battery of your Charge 5 is draining quickly. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this! @Gr4ndp4 Thank you so much for your help and advice!

As a first approach, please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%.  Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning).

Because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary. For more information, see Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Please find below some tips to best charge Fitbit devices:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable or your base station can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

Thank you for your answer. I have made all the suggestions in the link on how to extend the battery lifetime. After reading suggestions in the comments on similar topics I have restarted my device a riddiculous amount of times. But no change. My device is only a year old. I think the battery should last longer than that. It was an exchange product when my charge 4 broke (nothing wrong with the device after nearly 2 years it was the connection to the wristband that broke). I have read that the guarantee time for an exchange product is the one for the original product. So no guarantee left. When the battery drains quicker due to old age I suppose it happens slowly. For me it happened over night. From charging once a week (but the battery could last longer) to drain from 100 percent to zero in 9 hours.
I use no extra features on my Fitbit. I tap on it to see the time and pulse , connect to the app to see sleeping data. Nothing more. I have never used the GPS. It should not drain the battery. Last night the battery went from 100 to 39% when I was sleeping.

Hi, @Hipphipp, thanks for your feedback, I encourage you to contact "Customer Support" go through steps 1 & 2 then use the Chat facility or better the phone. If you've only had your Charge 5 for a year you may still have the benefit of Fitbit's warranty & returns policy as mentioned earlier. If that is the case the agent will need to know where you are, when you bought the device and who you bought it from.

I hope this helps.

Cheers
