We have a Charge 5 that's only a few months old. This morning it stopped synching. The screen is black. We have tried the reset and it only flashes the Fitbit logo and does nothing else. Not sure what else to do.

Very disappointing,   I really like the App, but not sure I will purchase another model.
Any experience with Aura ring?

------------

True. I never took a swim with fitbit on my wrist and it definitely broke after 15 months after i took a shower!

I just noticed that this thread has more than 85,000 views.

Yet Fitbit is still claiming that this is not a widespread problem. I purchased 2 and both failed. I think it is time for them to admit that a problem exists and refund the money to all those who purchased the defective charge 5.

I'm experiencing the same issue. It's quite frustrating as there has been more problems than usefulness from the Charge 5. I hope FitBit is able to send replacements to all of us affected since the issue is obviously not getting resolved.

Many of us would prefer to get our money back rather than receive a replacement.

One reason is that, according to many posters, the replacement received died just as quickly as the original did.

Another is that many of us have already purchased another product after our charge 5 failed and we were refused a replacement because we were out of warranty.

Same here!

I had my Fitbit replaced & my replacement charge 5 that is less than a year old failed  last night!! I tried to be more careful this time around, I always took it off before watching my hands! I took it off yesterday, and went to put it back on this morning and the screen wouldn’t come on. I thought the battery was dead and tried charging it but realized the logo wasn’t coming on. I left it on the charger thinking it was a low battery, came back to it and still no luck! The device is on: the green sensor light at the back does come on, my app shows the battery is full and it does sync, I tried to restart it by pressing the button 3 times,  I changed the screen and it vibrates while on my wrist, but the screen is still blank!!!

There is something wrong with this product because many people keep having the same issue! My warranty was over a few months ago so I am can’t get another replacement! At this point I am convinced your product is a complete junk!! My 1st one failed in less than 6months, the replacement you sent me failed in less than a year!! Will never purchase this again!!

This Blank Screen thread is up over 91,000 views. Given that most people who have a product fail just throw it away rather than research the failure online, imagine how many of us have had this problem with Fitbit. It is very unfortunate that Google does not seem to want to even acknowledge that this problem exists.

My one year old Charge 5 developed this problem a couple of weeks ago. I bought a brand new Charge 5 and the screen similarly went black and became unresponsive this afternoon, a little over a week after purchasing. None of the troubleshooting suggestions have had any effect. I called customer support and now I am waiting to hear back from the warranty department. Pretty disappointing to have two units die this way within two weeks of each other...

The issue probably predates Google, and appears to be just a poor design from the start that they haven't figured out how to fix. The discontinued charge 3 has the same issue, and the offer for a small discount on a purchase of a newer Charge 5 model to replace the faulty one out of warranty was considered briefly- thought better of it after a brief search on the issues with the charge 5, apparently plagued with the same exact problem.

None of the Fitbit models have proven immune to the issue, so a new model replacement is not an answer.

Can Fitbit seriously look into it?  This is the only way to win back the unhappy users

I wish they would, if only out of curiosity how the design is such that the problem happens with such clockwork regularity. New customers may be enough to replace the old ones, so it works well enough for them at this time though.

now they are telling me its only a 45 day warranty.  what a joke

The same thing happened to me. The device still charges and vibrates but the screen is dead, only 8 months old.

I came here hoping I may find a solution for this exact issue but I guess I’m SOL. About a week ago I went to sync my Charge 5 (which I’d charged the day before) and it showed the battery was at about 35%. I charged it and by that night it was already down to 40%. I’ve had to charge it a couple times a day since. Yesterday, the screen was black so I thought it was dead but when I put it on the charger instead of the normal charge screen, there was a red “X”. I tried resetting, switching the main plug, etc, and left it. A couple times, the blue logo came on for a second but that was it. I tried syncing it last night and it worked, showing the battery at 97%, and again this morning. It seems to be tracking but the screen has never come back on.

I almost didn’t post because so many people already have, but it’s so frustrating that this is an ongoing issue that has yet to be resolved.

Same issue. I bought Charge 5 almost exactly a year ago. Yesterday I've used it for swimming for the 1st time and the screen packed up - I could see the device working with the green LED on at the back and vibrating but the display was dark.
Tried the 3 x click reset on charging cable, changing the clock face, no joy. Called support and they advised me to remove the device from my Android app and add it back in, but that obviously did not work as the PIN from the device needs to be entered.
Luckily I was given an option to replace it free of charge (pretty good, considering I was out of warranty already) or take 50% discount on another product. Went for replacement which will hopefully work at least another year. Shame they can't fix this glitch, given how many people have the same issue. Good that replacement is possible, but I'd rather have a long-lasting device.

i have tried this but only got the buzzing. My watch isn't even a year old and its broken! I can't find another method and Google says that they don't do screen repairs!!!!!!!!! 🙂

My charge 5 also has a black screen that will not turn on. The fitbit is still 'functioning' I can still feel vibrations, and sync to my phone but the screen won't turn on. I've contacted support and will be receiving a replacement. This is the second issue I've had with my charge 5 (previously battery draining within hours of a full charge) and I am NOT impressed. I had 0 issue with my charge 4, but this new one seems to be full of problems. Support was extremely helpful but I am very disappointed with this product....

I'm seeing the exact same issue as the post immediately above. 20 hours ago, in the middle of the day, my Charge 5's screen went blank. It's got a full battery (I charged it earlier in the day) and is still connected via BT and syncing just fine, but the screen won't turn on. Trying the reset procedure with the cable doesn't work. Bummer.
