Charge 5 blank screen

The display on my charger 5 is completely black. I followed the directions to do a hard restart by pressing the button on the charging cable three times. The Fitbit does vibrate but the screen stays black - no logo appears. I tried doing this many times with the same result. 

Bluetooth says the Fitbit is still paired to my phone. However it doesn’t sync and the display remains completely black.

 

Is this a known issue? I’ve had Fitbits for years and never a problem like this.

Same deal with me yesterday. Black screen, counts steps, activity, syncs fine. All alleged fixes have no effect. I have to say that I have had this charge 5 for longer than any other fitbit product. Usually get no more than 18 months out of one. Until yesterday this one was going on 2 years. The only thing that keeps me a charge style user is the price and size of the tracker. These bastards have me hooked so now I'll  have to wait for the charge 6.

I was offered the 35% off.  Decided that this was it.  Got a Garmin vivosmart4 instead.  It has less of the fixin's but at this point I'm gun shy about ANY fitbit product.

They offered me a free replacement charge 5 or 50% for another type of Fitbit. I chose the replacement. Hope it doesn't break again....

I got my replacement charge 5 in the mail yesterday
Did a long update an has been working ok for about a day
Will let the group know how it goes

My fit bit 5 is 18 months old and no offer is expected or offered. I think I will buy a new one and just figure I will be lucky to get two years out of any fit bit watch. I guess it is the cost of doing business!

Ultimately after a lot of time you most likely won’t get a replacement, you won’t even get an answer as to why this happened to you and so many others in the chat. What you will get is an email for 35% off your next Fitbit purchase. I don’t know about you but I expected more from a company with loyal customers. I’ve decided to invest in another brand so that I don’t have to replace my watch/tracker every 6-12 months. I was really disappointed in the level of customer care from Fitbit

I got the coupon offer also but it's only good for a short period of time. Asked if I could use it on a new Charge 6 and they said there is no plans for a Charge 6 anytime soon. Probably a lie.

I just went ahead and bought a new charge 5 from Costco. I will give Fitbit one more try. Hope this one will last more then 18 months. They are having a sale on them for $139 minus $30 for $ 109. They offer a extra band with the watch.

The Apple Watch is a smart watch and the Charge 5 is a fitness tracker. Also, the Apple is 2 to 10 times more expensive and has 24 hour battery life. No thanks.
