Hi there, @drpope. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the screen of your Charge 5 is still blank. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!
To better assist you, please confirm that you've tried all the steps below in the order listed:
If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device once again as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

My charge 5 is in the same status - records steps, etc. but screen is black and I can’t get it to wake. I can and have successfully changed the clock face via the app, as far as I know - I got no error and the ‘new’ clock face appears in the app, but nothing appears on the drvice. It appears to sync via the app ( shows syncing….. shows a progress line). When I plug it into/onto the charge cable the Fitbit logo initially appears. I have pressed the button on the charger, in sets of 3, several times the device does nothing (that I can see) as a result. Please @Fitbit help me/us to get our device working again.

This same issue happened to me awhile back and it was so frustrating. It took me 4 months to figure out that somehow the display brightness was turned way down. The fitbit was working as it was charging and all apps working. It was a struggle to swipe to the correct screen to adjust the brightness back up. ( I think you can do this from the app).

Thank you. I, unfortunately, haven’t managed to find a place in the app to change the device screen brightness. And on the de ice itself, I absolutely can’t see anything. The first time (per day? Or per some time period) I attach the device to the charger it displays the Fitbit logo briefly and vibrates. Detaching and reattaching - it doesn’t display nor vibrate. Pushing the reset button - no vi rating nor displaying. When that logo displays the first time, it’s bright, so, I’m not totally convinced it’s the brightness, but am 100% willing to try it if I can figure out how! I’m just so frustrated, and to have had this happen all of the sudden out of the blue.

So if your suggestions unfortunately don’t make any difference in the workings of my device, any chance of any new advice or are we just $h1+ out of luck/ just have to purchase a new device?

@Kaygrey79 What device would you buy? Charge 6? Same company, same customer non-service.

@CallMeNoName I responded before, but I don’t know where it went! Anyway, I haven’t spent much of any time researching fitness trackers to know yet if I might get another Fitbit. I had a charge 2 that did almost the sane thing as this, though I couldn’t change the clock face through the app when its screen went black. But to have 2 of them do this, I’m not sure it would be worth my $$ to get another.

Same here… started about 3 weeks an ago about the same day my iPhone updated last. Later that day noticed my FitBit face went black but was still tracking & charging. I tried changing clock face…several times in different timeframes, several days efforts. Nothing improved- still black. Put on charger even though it was 80% charged. Tried the restart on charger with the three presses, each press resulted in a vibration on the charge. Gave it time to boot up. No logo. nothing. just black face. I did this several times in a matters several days. Nothing! Fitbit was showing fully charged on phone app. I tried removing the FitBit and reinstalling but now I can’t see the code to sync the FitBit to the app. I have tried the 3 press reset several times since. Nothing still black no logo, nothing.
I am trying to let the charge run down. I go and shake it periodically to see if the green lights up on the back. Hopefully when it runs completely down and I back charge up it will start working again. If not then I’m tossing garbage bin.
I have been a loyal Fitibit user. Charge 5 was my third one. I purchased 7/4/2023. This is the second time this black faced has happened in owning a FitBit. My second FitBit Alta, went black and wouldn’t respond. It vibrated when I tried charging but didn’t respond to any reset just stayed black faced. I ended up buying the Charge 5 to replace it. Now the same thing has happened to it. I now am beginning think it’s a flaw in FitBit software or it’s a timed mechanism to make you have to buy a new one. Welp, if I got to buy a new tracker this time it will not be a FitBit. From reading the responses it’s a waste of time, energy and sanity to call customer service. Kinda feel likes it’s a lost cause and I’m kinda getting over it! Started researching other brands of trackers.
