My 13 year old bought his first Fitbit, a charge 5.
Upon reading some boards we had to allow him to take control of his own Google account so unsupervised (which seems ridiculous you have to do this)
Only the ace options appear for adding device in the Fitbit app, I try again 24 hours later, same issue.
I contacted the live chat, went thru the process for unsupervising the Google account which was already done, they said we should have an upgrade button or message in the Fitbit app on my son's phone, unfortunately nothing.
So no options for charge 5. Again I can no longer see him on family link and he is now not a supervised member of my family.
At a loss what next step is and live chat unable to help other than to repeat the go to email he received and have him take control of his account, which we have done.
Charge 5 about to be returned

Hello @Merv124
Sorry to see that your son is having problems setting up the Charge 5.
There's a thread in the Charge 6 forum (<-- click link) on how a parent was able to get that device setup for their child. Although it looks like you've already done most of the steps, it might be worth checking out the thread to see if there are any other recommendations that you can try.

Thanks riekoC
It worked in the end but had to remove supervision from my son's phone and account and take him out of the family group which was the additional step that seemed to kick it thru.
Will not be buying another Fitbit, going to Garmin.
