Charge 5 countdown timer freezes in Always On Display mode

Charge 5 countdown timer freezes in the Always On Display mode after 20 seconds without movement, and watches is showing a frozen timer (!). It starts showing a running timer again just after a significant hand move. This is a bug that doesn’t allow to use the timer feature for sports like: stretching, planks, sailing etc. Please fix this!

Welcome to the forums @AikiRun.

Thanks for sharing your inquiry regarding your Charge 5.

Before considering other options, please try to complete a three pulse restart procedure following the steps listed here below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (USB connector), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

@AikiRun I don't think it's a bug. AOD refresh rate is lower than regular screen by design so it conserves battery power and is still able to show you some data. I see the same thing when running with Sense or Sense 2 and using AOD and metrics don't update as frequently. It's not a great design considering that timer should rather be visible and refreshed frequently but it's one of many thing that Fitbit didn't think through.

@ManuFitbit how is that going to help?

Ahaha your answer is a really LOL. Just listen that you said: “Hey user, this thing doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t bother Fitbit, so don’t be upset just use it as it is!”
Just imagine for a second that someone may has a priority of precise and updated information over the saving a battery feature.

Indeed this is not a bug - this is badly designed feature. And you make attempts to protect this poor designe.

Please be more flexible to user’s concerns. And sorry for sarcasm.

As an alternative to use the countdown timer in Always On Display mode I believe it’s possible to add corresponding option just for the timer.

@AikiRun I'm not sure why you are attacking me. I'm telling you the truth. There are bugs not fixed for years, Fitbit removes features from flagship models and what you observing is done such by design and sorry but it's not going to change. Precision is very important to me (and many other features that Fitbit will never implement) so I use different watch that does this and lot more. I still use Fitbit but it's for nothing serious. Just a toy. If I wanted to wait for Fitbit to implement all I need and fix all annoying bugs I would probably die of old age. Best you can do is posting in the Product Feedback forum an idea of fixing this issue and be very very very patient. Don't attack me. I didn't design this tracker and I am unable to fix this issue for you 😄 but I have been Fitbit user long enough to know that waiting for the fix is like waiting for pigs to fly.
