Anyone else find their fitbit Charge 5 counting steps while in an airplane? Has happened to me twice in my first week. Do I need to turn off GPS every time I fly, which is often?

Hello @Dtpow

I haven’t been flying with mine yet but I would highly recommend turning off GPS when you’re indoors (whether it be a plane, train or house).

GPS is supposed to be there for tracking outdoor exercise like hikes or runs.  It also tends to drain the battery quite quickly.

I’d suggest thinking of it as turning it on when you need it, rather than turning it off when you don’t.  You’ll probably find you’re needing to do it less often that way.

For the exercises you want to track with GPS, you can touch Start in the Exercise Shortcut on your Charge 5, then swipe up to turn GPS on.  That should mean that it will only turn on when you start that exercise.

I hope that helps a bit.

Happy flying!
