My Charge 5 is showing 835, 837, 833 and 408 steps from four different hours when I was asleep last night. This has happened one other time within the last month or so. It is totally not accurate, and is not something that occasionally happens. Just these 2 times. There is nothing odd or unusual showing in sleep phases, oxygen saturation or heart rate

Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Borgny.
Thank you for letting me know about this situation in regards to the Charge 5 counting steps while sleeping.
This may also come if the Charge 5 is near a vibration source, such as a fan. The vibrations are detected by the Charge 5 and are interpreted as steps, probably too much movement while sleeping can cause this. Whenever your Charge 5 isn't behaving as expected you should perform a restart. A restart will not delete extra steps, but it should ensure that everything is back to normal the following day.
