Charge 5 dieing over night

Hey all.

Hope all is well with ye in these challenging times.

I had a Charge 2 for donkeys years and it was a faithful old device apart from the many straps ( my own fault ) I broke.

I recently started using a Charge 5 and I am slow to have the same affection for it........

This morning I woke up and the charge 5 was dead. I was surprised. I always watch battery levels in it and was stunned by this.

Anyone else experience this ?

Mine was charged last night and just before bed today, it's at 4%. Same yesterday and I set GPS to use Phone GPS.

it's one of the better trackers, and one of the better sleep trackers, but even an Apple Watch has better battery life.

Looks like the battery issues are carrying over to the Charge 5.  Having the same issue with Charge 4, battery dies after 3 hours even when sleeping !  Customer Service is going to tell you to turn off all functionality that uses battery.  If that's the best they can do Fitbit should just sell a basic watch.  Clearly they continue to have battery issues as evidenced by the Ionic brand battery causing burns on peoples arms.

Hi, thank you for sharing that you've been having this inconvenience, @alanPC7 @RJayR, and welcome to the Community forums, @Frank0.

There's an ongoing issue that some users are experiencing with  the built-in GPS chip may remain active after ending a GPS-enabled exercise and they've working on an update to fix the issue. In the meantime, it is recommended to try a three pulse restart. Please note the following:

  • If you use GPS to track your exercise, use the Phone GPS setting on your tracker to preserve battery life. For more information, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
  • We’ll work to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app up-to-date to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

However, if you're not using the GPS feature, and you already followed the recommendations provided in this article to improve battery life and you continue to have the same problem, I do recommend that you continue the communication with the Customer Support team for further assistance with this, as not all battery short life problems are related to this specific issue with GPS.  Click here to get connected.

See you around.

I have been trying to do the help thingy for weeks now but it always says that the webpage is down. The battery is honestly really frustrating. It will be just fine for a couple of days and then, without me touching anything, it will drop like 40-50 percent in the span of a couple of hours.

@alanPC7 @NickNance Thank you for your replies.

Regarding the specific problem with the GPS chip, the team is already aware of this and they're working on a resolution, but unfortunately we haven't received other updates about this for the moment.

If you've exhausted all the troubleshooting options shared in the Community forums, please make sure to continue the communication with the Customer Support team for further assistance with this.

Please know that all your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated .
