Charge 5 getting weekly updates on my progress

Why am I still getting weekly updates on my progress. Both of my worthless charge5s have been dead in a closet for over a year . I'm still getting a step count . Why ? How ?

Thank you for taking the time to share the details regarding this matter. 

Please, confirm that you are using MobileTrack, a service which uses your phones motion sensors to track your steps. Try to disconnect your phone by tapping the Devices icon in the upper left of your Fitbit app's Today page. Then just tap the Smartphone tile and disconnect it afterwards.
