Charge 5 is unresponsive

My charge 5 stopped responding. I knew the battery was at 62%. Have tried restarting it - nothing, tried deleting app and disconnecting bluetooth - now it cant find the device at all. Have changed electrical ports and cleaned heads. I don't know what else to do.

Hi @JoeyBit. Welcome to the forums.

Thank you for sharing the details regarding your Charge 5 and for trying to fix it on your own.

I'd recommend trying the following in the order listed even if some of them you've tried already:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

I have done all of this. My phone can’t find the Fitbit at all now through Bluetooth.

I am having the same issues. It will not connect or recognize it. It was fine early today and then midday it stopped working.  It started just showing a blinking logo, then it went blank completely after about 20 minutes. I kept trying to get it to charge (it was already above 50%). The blinking blue logo has reappeared but I cannot get any farther.

Same thing happened to mine today. Was fine, then started to show the logo. Restarting doesn't help. It just vibrates and goes back to the logo.

Hello @JoeyBit , @WolfPackMac , @OlgaLA

Since the recommended troubleshooting hasn't worked for you, there's an unconventional method that a user tried that worked for them. This thread (<-- click link) describes what they did. Although there's no guarantee that this will work for you, it might be worth a try.

Thank you for the help and suggestion. Unfortunately that hasn't worked either. I tried it twice. Once for 4 hours and again overnight. The flashing logo has disappeared, but only because it is now dead. Nothing. Even after trying to charge. I am very disappointed and apparently cannot get anyone live to chat or talk with. I have used Fitbit for almost 10 years since 2015. This Fitbit Charge 5 was good, but now has gone the way of some others, yet faster demise (I simply upgraded on others). I see the Charge 6 is recommended by many sites. Yea...I bet so...Perhaps, but I am doing research on Garmin and others, with an eye to syncing with my Peloton. I have lost a great deal of trust in Fitbit products, especially since Google has screwed up what we used to have access to. Strategic death to force new purchases I suppose.  But I will now need VERY compelling persuasion before I purchase my next tracker. Regardless, Thanks for your help. It was definitely worth a try.
