Is it common for charge 5 to last less then a year? I have gone through 5 of them since 2022. Yes, i have had some replaced however, it seems like they do not last for very long. I do not abuse the device, I even take it off when i am gardening and swimming (even though it has swimming in the exercise list), thinking that is why they keep dying.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Any water - shower, splash, etc, however brief or accidental, can permanently damage the electronics.

I've had three now, and they've all died almost exactly at the 2-year mark, conveniently past the warranty period. twice would be coincidence. three times is a problem with the device. this last one was clearly a bad software update or something, as dozens of people are reporting the same thing. I went through the support desk, they couldn't help either.

I bought mine in November of 2021, that makes it almost 4 years old now. I wear it 24 hours a day only taking it off when I am showering or charging it.The battery life has dropped off to about 5 days instead of 7, I've broken 2 watch bands, and the pogo plug charging connection is a little sloppy, but other than that it's been pretty reliable. Sadly I don't expect much more than 500 charge cycles out of anything with a non-replacable battery so I'm guessing its about at the end of its life. So they can and should last way more than a year.

I have the exact same experience - every two years my FitBit Charge 5 fails, right outside the warranty. Third time just happened right in middle of vacation. Not happy about it. Makes me want to look at other options. My screen is totally black. It vibrates when I connect power but nothing on screen. There is no surface button to press/tap to reset. I have tried the hold screen for 30 seconds and other methods - nothing works. This may be my last FitBit. Anyone figured this out?

I have the same exact problem - Guess I am not alone. This is BS, and there should be some sort of compensation. I have tried every option available to restart and it and won't restart!

Me too! Am very disappointed with the attitude - so wasteful not to be able to repair; not great green creds….
