Charge 5 randomly freezes

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit charge 5 has recently started to randomly freeze so screen goes black and I can’t wake it up.

whh hi em I connect the charger and do a manual reset it will come back to life but hasn’t recorded any data whilst frozen.

this started happening probably 6 weeks ago and was very occasional- once a week or so. But it’s happened on the last three days which is making the Fitbit useless.

i am losing faith in Fitbit brand this is my 5th one in 6 years. Albeit my original one was replaced 3 times.

ive had it for about 2.5 years so outside warranty- if it can’t be fixed i dont think I’ll be replacing it with another Fitbit though

Hi there, @Annec62. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 keeps freezing. I understand your concern and how you must be feeling. I will do my best to help you with this!

To better assist you, may I know if this is happening while exercising or when accessing to any app on your device? If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend restarting your Charge 5. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Regarding your data loss, if you remember the exact amount of steps or the name of the activity you performed, you can try manually logging the activity. For more information, see How do I manually log exercises in the Fitbit app?

i have tried restarting on a few occasions but it still happens

@Annec62 Thanks for getting back and for the details shared.

In addition to the steps you've done so far, please try the steps below:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon at the top-left corner.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device image.
  3. Near the bottom of the page, tap Sync Now.

If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device once again as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.
