Charge 5 randomly powers off

Hey there,

I have had my Charge 5 for almost 3 years now. I use it everyday and love it. I use it at work for many alarms and timers throughout the day and the battery lasts for 3 days, no issues. I charge it every 3rd day when the battery will be at like 20%.

My issue is that for the last few months, when I try to use one of the exercise settings, it will shut off at one point in the middle of that exercise. It will not respond to anything once that happens, until I put it on the charger. As soon as it connects, the battery shows a good percentage (never less then 20%) and the information for the exercise I was doing is then lost, and even the steps didn’t register because it was off, right.

If the battery was dead, it wouldn’t show 20%+ as soon as the charger connects, right? I went for a walk tonight, the battery was showing 78%. I put it on the walk mode and when we got back about an hour later, I checked and the watch was black and unresponsive. When I got back to my house, I put it straight on the charger and it powered up and showed the battery at 60%. Makes no sense to me. Help! Lol

Sorry to hear that has happened.  I have been a Fitbit user since 2013 and it was fun with all the challenges with family and friends throughout the years but it seems as if it has slowly progressed downwards since Google takeover.  I have owned several devices from the Fitbit 1 to the Charge 5.  I have had 2 charge 5’s in the last 2 years and since the latest firmware update last month, my 2nd Charge 5 has died.  My battery life did not hold up.  Tried resetting and it stayed at 10% and then continued to drop.  Now it vibrates and does not even have anything on the screen.  I have been researching the Charge 6 but I have been seeing that Fitbit will no longer be producing any trackers.  I have looked at the Google Pixel trackers but not sure if I want to spend 3 times the amount for a product that may only last a year and having to charge it everyday.  Features are nice and compatible with Fitbit app, but still hesitant on purchasing it.  For me, I believe it might be farewell Fitbit.  You can continue to research for your issue, but from what I have been seeing, a lot of Charge 5 owners have been having issues.
