Charge 5 screen is blank

I've had my charge 5 for 1 1/2 years and have only had 1 issue with the face going blank.  Today, out of the clear blue, my battery went from 72% to 3% and the screen went blank.  

My screen is totally unresponsive.  I have reset with the button on the charger cable numerous times, I don't even get the fitbit logo, nor does the watch vibrate. I have it on the charger now and it is up to 87% charged and it will sync with the app on my phone, but nothing on the face.  I have also tried to run the firmware update and it has failed 3 times.  In addition, I have changed my clockface to no avail.

Any ideas would be helpful...my charge 2 and 4 lasted a whole lot longer than the charge 5 - pretty sad.

Hi, @bholdthecross  welcome to the community, you have clearly considered all the usual solutions to this kind of problem. I think your best move will be to talk to "Customer Support" using the chat facility or phone for a prompt response. I recommend before making your call you note the steps you have taken and the results so you can brief the agent clearly & ensure they can quickly bring forward a solution. You may still have the benefit of Fitbit's warranty depending on when & where you bought the device, they will need this information from you.
