Charge 5 step count and calories way off

Hi

Apparently I have done 1,407 steps and burned 800+ calories while sitting in bed having a lie in, listening to a podcast.
How  is it so inaccurate?

I have it on my non-dominant wrist. Set correctly in the app. I’ve tried setting to dominant yesterday, but no difference. I have it placed correctly on my arm.
I’ve tried resetting it.

seeing as calorie burn and steps are the whole reason I bought it… it’s proving a tad useless. I’m on a calorie deficit diet for 8 weeks before I go back to weights, so its not actually giving me a realistic target anymore.

I appreciate some discrepancy with movements & step count depending on what I’m doing, but this is just crazy!

yesterday I did 5,000 steps just sitting on the sofa bingeing Netflix. Tomorrow is my first session back with my PT.

Any further assistance appreciated. I’ve scrolled the forums with all the usual standard responses which I’ve tried already

thanks!

Welcome to the Community forums, @MidsummerCat

Thank you for all the information provided about the inconvenience you've been experiencing with your Charge 5 and confirming that you already tried a few troubleshooting steps.

From what you mentioned earlier, it seems that you already tried all the steps provided in the forums to improve the accuracy of steps and calories. Although there are some general recommendations that you can try, if you already tried the restart and you've changed the dominant hand setting and you're getting all these extra steps while you're sitting at home or laying down, I do recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. They will let you know how to proceed.
