I am a new user with the Charge 5. At first with the GPS set to to dynamic it synced to the app and mapped my route, giving me precise distance etc. For some reason it stopped doing that. The GPS setting is still on dynamic, my Apple SE saye it is linked via bluetooth to the Charge 5, but I am getting imprecise distances based on steps (I guess) and no mapping. I am getting push notices to the Charge 5 of incoming calls and texts. Any ideas / suggestions?

I would suggest a device restart, the restart won’t affect your stats it just reboots the device, to do so you go to settings, and then scroll to restart device, if it does not fix the issue try un pairing the charge 5 to you iPhone, then re pair it to your phone, or try uninstalling then reinstalling the Fitbit app, if none of these work they contacting Fitbit.
Have a great day

@SBNash806 does the Charge 5 show that is has obtained a GPS lock. Your Charge 5 has by kt in GPS and doesn't depend on a connection with the phone.

How does it indicate the GPS lock? I assumed in dynamic mode it would use the GPS of the phone when available?

This might mean something. Before going for my walk today, I tried doing it as a "run" on my charge 5. When I selected "run" it immediately indicating looking for GPS, and connected. It mapped my entire 6 mile walk in run mode perfectly. Why wouldn't it do that in "Walk" mode, when it did so intially? I didn't (intentionally) change any settings. And does it really matter? As log as it get the miles and route correct, I suppose the calorie burn might be different? My walking miles in the in the 13:30 range.
