Hi there, @Danger1965. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still unresponsive despite the steps you've tried so far.

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, may I know if your Charge 5 vibrated during the restart process? If it didn't, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

Hi Danger1965

I had the exact same issue this week. I have dried it out with rice and then I wore it over night to use my body temperature to dry it further. I then put it back on charge and it has started charging again and I can see the watch face. Unfortunately for me, the battery will not hold the charge properly. This morning it was charged to 100% and 2 hours later it was down to 6%. Hopefully wearing it helps dry it further and gets things working for you.
Any advice on sorting out the battery life is welcome from the community.

I had the same thing.

My screen had gone black and wouldn't return about a week before. I was leaving for holiday and restarting wasn't working but since the sensors were still functioning fine I left if to deal with when I got back.

Went for a swim at the beach and the watch died somewhere out in the water. Thought maybe dead (hard to tell with no screen) and put it on charge to no avail. Doesn't vibrate when connected. Left it out to dry, cleaned it to remove any stray salt/sand/whatever and it does not vibrate when connected to the charger or when the button is pressed. Haven't been able to get it back on again at all.

My partner also has a charge 5 and his was completely unaffected.
