Charge 5 stopped working and possible reason

Just like many other users reported, my fitbit charge 5 stopped working a week ago. The device showed blank screen and doesn't respond to any touch and doesn't charge.  I had to wait hours or days until the battery ran out then it would be able to charge. After the fitbit charge worked very briefly, the problem comes back soon and stopped working.

On my paired iPhone, I saw a new version of fitbit app (4.19) was updated around the same time that my device died and there was another new update (4.19.1). Then, I tried to turn off the bluebooth on my phone and found that the fitbit charge 5 worked properly. Then, I updated the Fitbit App to 4.19.1 and turned on bluetooth to sync with the device. It seems OK for now.

It looks like the problem was caused by the fitbit app version 4.19. The release version 4.19.1 means there was an urgent defect fix that can't wait for a regular release.

Thanks for this info. I'm also on version 19 but when I reinstall the app it's still the same version although there are noticeable differences especially in the help section. Looks like fitbit have turned my charge 5 into a paperweight.
