All of a sudden this morning around 9 am EST, my Fitbit stopped recording hourly activities and syncing with the app (maybe, there's something else, but I am working and can't check everything. I restarted my phone and attempted to restart my Charge 5; however, it wasn't possible since it doesn't even charge when I connect it to the charger. I restarted the device from the watch. That solved the problem. I hope, it helps people with similar problems.

Thanks for describing the problem and solution. As it happens I had the exactly same issue 2 days ago, like you a restart did the trick.

Initially, I was puzzled not knowing what to do, since the Fitbit didn't see the charger; it made an option to restart through the charger impossible. Then, I remembered that it could be restarted directly from the device.
