Charge 5 stops mid walk

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 5 keeps stopping recording part way through a walk. I’m walking around 6-7km in 60 to 70 mins and when I sync to my phone once finished I find it’s recorded maybe 2 or 3 km.

I didn’t have any problems like this with the much cheaper HUAWEI band.

What’s going on Fitbit ???

Hmm... 🤔 Is this from an auto recognized activity or one you manually started?

It’s a manual start.

Hello @maseman67

Some people are finding the screen is very sensitive to things like sleeves in the cold weather and that can cause the activity to be paused or even stopped.

When I go jogging I have my sleeve rolled up a bit to expose my Charge 5, mainly because I want to keep an eye on my stats.  Despite that, last week it happened to me once.  Luckily I noticed almost immediately, because I'm interested in tracking my stats and was able to start a new exercise, losing only about a minute's worth of stats.

I can understand how annoying it must be if you don't find out until the end.  It's not ideal but it might be worth checking from time to time that it's still tracking your walk.

Edited to add:

If you're just walking, the auto detect function is really good for that. It might be more accurate as the screen changing wouldn't have any impact on it.  It might be better to just let your Charge 5 track it automatically and then edit the start or end time later if necessary.

I personally, haven't experienced this issue. Wibby mentions that sleeves (possibly damp from snow, etc.) maybe causing false inputs to the screen. This is very likely and maybe a feature request to fitbit to provide the ability to (water) lock the screen for other activities would be the solution.

Thanks for this, i think this is correct, todays walk i made sure nothing
could hit the screen. The other issue i have is the fibit today has
recorded a walk of 4.67miles and my phone using strava has the same walk as
3.76 miles. i can't be doing with deviations like this. Judging from
previous devices i have used to record this walk it's the fitbit that's way
out.

I need more info regarding the deviation on distance. Which GPS setting (on your fitbit) are you using?: Dynamic, Built-in or Phone

I've had enough of this!! midway through my walk i look, and it's on the
add card screen. I had to restart the excercise 3 times. This device is not
fit for purpose. I want to send it back.
