I got my Charge 5 recently and it stops tracking my runs for no reason. Any suggestions?

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Belfarsad

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this issue with your Charge 5.

Could you please provide a few more details about this problem? Let me know if the device is losing the GPS connection or if you're seeing any specific error message on the display. In the meantime, please make sure to try restarting your device using the three pulse restart method:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

I'll be around.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done the restart. Will hopefully be going
for a run tomorrow to see if it fixes the issue. There's no error. I start
my run, using the start exercise function and at some random point in the
run it stops. I don't know it's stopped until I look at my watch and
realise it is no longer in tracking mode.

Hello @Belfarsad

I’m sorry to hear about your problem.

Are you wearing long sleeves when you’re running?  Quite a few people have found that the material can interact with the screen and cause it to pause and then quit exercise sessions.

I roll up my sleeve because I want to keep an eye on my stats so didn’t have the problem, although I read about it here.  One day it did happen to me but I caught it quickly and started a new session without losing much data.

It might be something to consider when you’re looking for what might be causing it…

Yes, I have been wearing long sleeves while running. I'll try and roll up for next run. Not sure how practical that will be in winter time though! Good suggestion though. Thanks!

It's definitely worth a try @Belfarsad .  It is annoying but warmer weather is coming...
