Charge 5 stuck on Fitbit logo

Had my Charge 5 for just over a year. Last week screen became unresponsive, app said battery was at 56%, plugged in screen woke up and said battery was at 37%. Reset using cable button battery said 23% and charging. I checked every 10min or so after about 2 hours battery said 59%, 10 minutes later 100% !! The screen has been intermittently unresponsive and has now stopped altogether. It keeps showing the Fitbit logo then shutting down and restarting…. Time for a new fitness tracker!

Mine has done the same thing....in the same time frame.  I have an old Versa 2 that I can use, but it seems so big now.  Haven't been able to get any info from Fitbit, now that they are Google.

Hi there, @ShaunBailey. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Charge 5. I understand where your concern is coming from. I will do my best to help you with this!

Have you tried restarting your Charge 5? If after the restart your Charge 5 is still blinking the Fitbit logo, please try the following steps in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Hey, @sandymwp. Thanks for stopping by. I understand where your concern is coming from, I'm here to help you.

As a first approach, please note that sometimes a Fitbit doesn’t seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely). I'd recommend putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working.  Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.

When it has had two hours, try restarting your Charge 5. I would recommend trying this maybe twice in a row if a first try doesn’t work.

If the above doesn't work, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Nope, after reading all the comments about the (non) existing “customer support” I haven’t even tried….

Hi thanks for the advice, I tried most of that before calling it quits and giving up. It has worked flawlessly for just over a year and having read all the other comments and theories as to why it is happening to everyone in the same time frame I am not going to waste anymore of my time trying to fix what should be working. I no longer have a Charge 5.

If they had any shred of customer support they would release a firmware update to fix all these issues. But they don’t so instead they will offer a 50% discount to try and persuade us to buy new Fitbit devices and suck us back in
