My charge 3 just died and I'm trying to decide between getting another one, or the charge 5. I like a lot of the new features of the 5, but I also really like the activity tracking of the charge 3. Does the 5 do the same activity tracking as the 3, where I can select the activity and manually start/pause/stop?
Also, do I get the same basic data from the 5 that I currently get with the 3, or do I have to get premium membership for that?
Thank you!

Hello & welcome @SunsetRunner
Sorry to hear that your Charge 3 is no longer working.
The Charge 5 does has activity/workout tracking where you can select the Exercise and manually start/pause/stop. At the time of this post, you can select up to 6 Exercise shortcuts on your Charge 5. Click here to see: Exercise on the Charge 5
As for the basic data, I believe it is the same for the Charge 5 as it was for your Charge 3. If there's a specific set of data that you want to track, let us know and we will be able to let you know if that's available on the Charge 5 without needing to have a Premium subscription. You can use the link above to check out the Charge 5 manual. It might answer your question about the basic data available on the device.

Also availability might be a big factor. Fitbit no longer makes to Charge 3. Also might note Charge 5 does not have altimeter so no tracking of stairs climbed; don't remember if Charge 3 had that. Big disappointment to some, some don't care.
Charge 5 color screen - much better visibility.
