Charge 5 won't show the correct time and date

Good morning all,

My Fitbit Charge 5 has the wrong time & date. I've tried uninstalling the app & reinstalling on my phone, hoping it would reset, checked settings in Fitbit, not seeing anything there - I guess the battery ran low/out awhile back and when I charge it, it's reading a date & time from months ago. It's driving me crazy! This is a brand new watch, got it last year for Christmas. Anyone experience this? Thank you!

Hi there, @HummingAlong. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Charge 5 and taking the time to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling.

As per the description of your post, it seems like your Charge 5 is not syncing with the Fitbit app or it has been removed from your Fitbit account. Please note your Fitbit device may show an incorrect time if it hasn't synced or has been unpaired from your Fitbit account. Your Fitbit device uses the time of the device you're syncing with. To make sure your watch has recently synced, go to your Fitbit account, tap the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image.

If you haven't yet set up your Charge 5, please see How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Hello @HummingAlong

Not having the correct time & date would drive me crazy, too. Is the rest of your data syncing properly between your Charge 5 and the Fitbit app after the battery drain incident?

Have you double checked the time & location settings are correct in the Fitbit app? If not, here are the steps to do that:

  • From the Today page in the Fitbit app, click on your picture/icon in the upper left to open the Account page
  • Swipe up and tap on App Settings under Settings
  • Confirm that Automatic time zone and Automatic locations are selected. If not, tap on the dot to the right to select
  • Tap on the arrows in the upper left to return to the Today page and pull down to perform a sync

If Automatic time zone and Automatic location are selected, some users have had success in correcting the time on their Charge 5 by:

  • Deselect these two
  • Change them to something else
  • Perform a sync
  • Go back to App settings page and reselect Automatic time zone and Automatic location
  • Perform a sync

Hopefully, you will have similar success in getting your Charge 5 to display the correct date & time.
