Charge 5 won't sync anymore

My fitbit is no longer syncing with either of my devices. It is no longer notifying me to move every hour or tracking my hourly steps. I have tried restarting the fitbit, restarting the phone and still nothing. This seems to have started happening overnight, when it last synced at 1:03am.

Hi there, @SindeeM. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and taking the time to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out.

In addition to the steps you've done so far, please try the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your old phone's Bluetooth and also from the new phone.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • Set up notifications on your Charge 5 again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Nevertheless, I've seen
you contacted our Support Team after posting here and they're now helping you.

I hope we can solve your issue soon.

Thanks for your response. I have reinstalled the app and tried setting up the device again. But it won't get past the charging screen, when the device is being charged. Apparently I have another defective device and once I return this one, I will get a new one shipped, so I will be without a device for the near future. If I could get a refund, I will get another type of device. But, I can't, so I'm stuck with this one.

I've spoken to Fitbit/Google about this for months now and it's still broken. If the Charge 5 is so much as out of range of a phone for an hour, syncing just completely stops even though in the iPhone Bluetooth settings, the Charge 5 status is connected. I've reset the device, deleted the app on iOS, etc.... I don't know what happened to the Charge 5 because we had a previous Charge and this happened very infrequently.
